Thomas E. Lemler, Esq.

Thomas E. Lemler, Esq. is the founder and managing member of Lemler IP. He is well-versed in prosecuting intellectual property applications, legal research, and drafting and preparing legal documents. Thomas is a conscientious, detail-oriented and organized attorney, who tackles cases with tenacity and an analytical mindset. He is an innovative intellectual property attorney, who is highly effective at property protection, licensing, strategy, and technology disclosures.

Prior to founding Lemler IP in 2021, he worked at a local New Orleans boutique intellectual property firm, working on complex actions including U.S. and international patents, trademarks, copyrights, and licensing agreements.

In addition to his intellectual property prosecution experience, Thomas has represented numerous local businesses, from start-ups to national corporations in front of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He has assisted numerous local start-ups in the formation of their businesses as well as in obtaining appropriate licenses and permits. Thomas is a strong oral and written advocate who is committed to achieving exceptional results for his clients.

In the rare times he is not working, Thomas enjoys exploring emerging technologies, culinary arts, wine, single malt whiskeys, works of science fiction and fantasy, video games, and playing Dungeons & Dragons®.

Education

Thomas earned his Bachelor’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering from New York Institute of Technology in 2010 and his Master of Science in Energy Management from New York Institute of Technology in 2014. After spending years working in IT and as an engineer, Thomas decided to pursue a legal career. In 2018 he earned his J.D. from Tulane University Law School where he served as the President of the Tulane Intellectual Property Society for two years. While at Tulane, he became a Law School Alumni IP and Culture Fellow and was a Co-Creator of Tulane University Law School’s USPTO Sponsored Patent and Trademark Clinics.
